Discover more →Ștefan Macovei is a répétiteur and collaborative pianist in the soloist class, currently undertaking an internship with the Young Artist Programme at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen. He has worked on productions including Murder on the Titanic by Matias Vestergaard (DKDM, 2026), as well as Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti, and Idomeneo by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Royal Danish Opera (2026). His work encompasses coaching singers and close collaboration with conductors in both rehearsal and performance contexts. He has also been invited to participate in conducting courses such as Dirigentløftet as an accompanying pianist for conducting students, and has worked with vocal ensembles including the Copenhagen Chamber Choir.
Ștefan Macovei was born in 1999 in Nicosia, Cyprus. He completed his Bachelor's degree at the "Gheorghe Dima" National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, Romania under Prof. Cipriana Gavrișiu, and continued his studies at the Accademia del Ridotto in Italy under Prof. Vincenzo Balzani — a collaboration that began in 2016. During this time, he performed extensively across Northern Italy with the support of Associazione PianoFriends Milano.
He has also worked in masterclasses with distinguished pianists such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Boris Berman, Lilya Zilberstein, Natalia Trull and Andrzej Jasiński.
Since 2023, he has been pursuing his Master's degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen in the class of Prof. Marianna Shirinyan, and is currently enrolled in the soloist class. He has performed widely across Europe and Asia, including in Romania, Italy, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Lithuania, Malta, Japan, and Russia.
